My favorite Valentine’s Day special songs

Monta re (Lootera)

Bengali songs have special place in my heart. This song from the movie Lotera is truly brilliant.  All songs from this movie are awesome. My favorite numbers are Zinda and Monta re. This song is sung by Swanand Kirkire and Amitabh Bhattacharya. Composed by Amit Trivedi, this song gives a vibe of Bengali folk music.

 

2)      Gungunati hai (Satta)

A soft romantic song from the movie Satta, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. The song is picturized on Raveena Tondon and Atul Kulkarni. One of the best songs of Sonu Nigam but quite underrated. The female version of this song, sung by Asha Bhonsle is shown in the movie. This song is written by Javed Akhtar and composed by Raju Singh.

3)      O sathi re din dube na (Omkara)

A very soulful song by Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Bharadwaj. When Gulzar and Vishal come together they create magic. This song is proof of their outstanding composition. It’s a treat for music lovers.

4)      Bawara man (Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi)

A very calm and soothing song from the movie Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi. The movie is worth watching, especially the climax. This song is written and sung by Swanand Kirkire and composed by Shantanu Moitra. Absolute masterpiece!

5)      Tu bin bataye (Rang de Basanti)

This beautiful composition of AR Rahman, brings peacefulness while listening. Captivating voices of Madhushree and Naresh Iyer make this song truly beautiful. I love the picturization of this song. Heart touching lyrics by Prasoon Joshi.

6)      Khamkha nahi ((Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola))

You will fall in love with the wonderful voice of Vishal Bharadwaj in this song. The way it is written is marvelous. Words like “Khalish”, “Tapish” “sargoshi” and “Khamakha” are beautifully used in this song. Kudos to Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar for creating such magical romantic piece. A perfect blend of African and Haryanvi folk!

7)      Kahi to hogi who (Jaane tu ya Jaane na)

This dream song is sung by Rashid Ali and Vasundhara Das. It is picturized on Genelia D’Souza and Imran Khan. This fantastic song is composed by AR Rahman. A pure melody!

8)      Socha na tha (socha na tha)

This lovely song by Sandesh Shandilya and Sadhana Sargam is from the movie “Socha na Tha”. The song is written by Irshad Kamil, and music is composed by Sandesh Shandilya himself. The movie presents an innocent and cute love story with Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia in the lead role. This movie happens to be the directorial debut of Imtiaz Ali.

9)      Meri zindagi me aaye ho (Armaan)

A very charming song by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. Music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Gracy Singh’s breathtaking smile adds beauty to this song.

 

10)   Har pal chahe mera dil (Gud Gudee)

A simple and sweet song by Kumar Sanu from the movie Gud Gudee. The song is composed by Bappi Lahiri and written by Basu Chatterjee. Gud Gudee is a light hearted comic movie, directed by Basu Chatterjee, with Anupam Kher, Jugal Hansraj and Pratibha Sinha in the lead role.

Good, peculiar collection having different signature of romance , treat on VALENTINE DAY, thanks , wish are able to live these songs in actual, i feel romance and love are more in mind than in reality , songs and poems are the best method to express them.But everything doesn't happen as per the imagination.Happy Valentine s Day.

Tribute to Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma will always be remembered amongst music lovers for his unparalleled perfection in playing the complex instrument, santoor. He was born on 13 January 1938 in Jammu and Kashmir, India in a musical family. His father was a famous vocalist and tabla player. Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma developed interest in music right from his childhood. He started learning santoor when he was thirteen and in 1955 he gave his first public performance in Mumbai. In 1956, he also composed background music for one scene in the film, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje. He collaborated with flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia and composed music for several hit films under the collaborative name Shiv Hari. I have listed some of the beautiful songs composed by Shiv Hari.
